At Simpson Steel Building Company, we make Kentucky projects straightforward from day one. If you’re planning a metal building for storage, shop space, or agriculture, we’ll help you move from concept to kit with clear steps and reliable communication. When your scope calls for a steel building—from light commercial to specialty use—we align loads, drawings, and options so your package arrives ready for the work ahead. Every kit is engineered to your ZIP code and intended use. Our patented truss system supports open interiors, with standard limits of 50-foot width and 18-foot eave height for non-extreme loads. If your needs exceed truss parameters, we’ll price a rigid steel building, explain trade-offs, and help you choose the best path.
Engineered For Kentucky Requirements
Because our truss design derives strength from geometry rather than oversized I-beams, many customers see savings compared with similar rigid frames. You can tailor your metal building with door and window packages, insulation, color roofs, gutters, and lean-tos. Pre-punched parts and an erection manual support efficient assembly and a weather-tight result. Accurate quotes start with solid details: width, length, eave height, ZIP code, framed openings, endwall style, and accessories. We offer two ways to begin—call our team or use the detailed quote form—and a quick-contact option for simple questions. With the right information up front, your steel building timeline, budget, and approvals are easier to manage. Contact us, call or complete the quote form to price your Kentucky metal building with confidence.
Simpson Steel Building Company has been providing metal buildings to the great state of Kentucky for over 40 years. We’ve become very familiar with and kept up with local building code changes that have come up over the years. Our patented truss design gives you all the benefits of a traditional red-iron structure for a much lower price point!

Our bolt-together building kits are easy to assemble and only require a forklift or tractor with tongs to move around. This makes our building kit the perfect solution for anybody in Kentucky looking for an affordable DIY Kit for their project needs. Speaking of projects, our buildings work great for a multitude of uses, such as hay barns, stables, garages, shops, commercial buildings, and barndominium homes! In the event that you want someone to erect the building for you, we have a list of local contractors we can refer to help with that aspect of the project.
Simpson offers insulation packages that come in multiple thicknesses that you can add to your metal building purchase. Whether you need a 6” insulation package to handle the humidity on those warm summer days in or around Lexington or Louisville, you need bundle up in the winter months, or maybe you just need a 3” insulation package for moderate temperature control, we’ve got you covered. Our standard insulation has a VR facing that is very similar to TVEK house wrap. It is a white polypropylene scrim kraft facing and has a very superior vapor barrier and perm rating. The facing is laminated with a flame-retardant adhesive that is reinforced with tri-directional fiberglass/polyester to prevent rips and tears.

Frequently Asked Questions
What affects lead time besides seasonality?
- Engineering approvals, accessory selections, and rural delivery logistics can influence ship dates. Coordinating permits, concrete, and site access early often shortens the schedule. Sharing your target month, any shutdown windows, and unloading equipment helps us plan production, freight, and staging, reducing idle time, rework, and cost.
Can I plan for future expansion from the start?
- Yes. We can align framed openings, rooflines, and slab edges so additional bays, lean-tos, or doors integrate cleanly later. Matching panel profiles, trim details, and color choices at the outset preserves appearance and weather-tightness, and it simplifies ordering when you’re ready to grow.
How do I manage heat, condensation, and noise in a shop?
- Combine insulation with proper ventilation and air sealing around penetrations. Radiant barriers, cool-roof colors, and liner panels can improve comfort, acoustics, and energy costs. Tell us whether the space will be conditioned, semi-conditioned, or storage-only, and we’ll suggest packages that balance performance, budget, and build time.
