At Simpson Steel Building Company, we help Maryland owners plan, price, and receive the right metal building for storage, shop, or small commercial use. If you’re considering a steel building, we guide you from dimensions and loads to delivery with straight answers, clear drawings, and practical options. Our process is professional and flexible, so you get what you need without surprises. Our patented truss system delivers open interiors and dependable performance. Standard limits are 50-foot width and 18-foot eave height, with designs intended for non-extreme loads. If your scope exceeds truss parameters, we’ll price a rigid steel building, explain trade-offs, and help you decide with confidence.

You can tailor your metal building with doors, windows, insulation, color roofs, and lean-tos, then assemble using pre-punched parts and an erection manual. The result is a durable shell that installs efficiently and maintains easily. To quote accurately, we’ll ask for width, length, eave height, ZIP code, openings, endwall style, and accessories. Simpson Steel Building Company has been providing metal buildings to the great state of Maryland for over 40 years. We’ve become very familiar with and kept up with local building code changes that have come up over the years.  Our patented truss design gives you all the benefits of a traditional red-iron structure for a much lower price point!

State flag of Maryland were we provide Metal buildingsOur bolt-together building kits are easy to assemble and only require a forklift or tractor with tongs to move around. This makes our building kit the perfect solution for anybody in Maryland looking for an affordable DIY Kit for their project needs. Speaking of projects, our buildings work great for a multitude of uses, such as hay barns, stables, garages, shops, commercial buildings, and barndominium homes!  In the event that you want someone to erect the building for you, we have a list of local contractors we can refer to help with that aspect of the project.

Simpson offers insulation packages that come in multiple thicknesses that you can add to your metal building purchase.  Whether you need a 6” insulation package to handle the humidity on those warm summer days in or around Baltimore, you need bundle up in the winter months in Anapolis, or maybe you just need a 3” insulation package for moderate temperature control, we’ve got you covered.  Our standard insulation has a VR facing that is very similar to TVEK house wrap. It is a white polypropylene scrim kraft facing and has a very superior vapor barrier and perm rating.  The facing is laminated with a flame-retardant adhesive that is reinforced with tri-directional fiberglass/polyester to prevent rips and tears.

Simpson Steel Building Company is able to manufacture our high-quality pre-fabricated buildings thanks to our unique steel truss designs. Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect on delivery day, and how do we unload safely?

Your kit arrives on a flatbed with bundled frames, panels, and hardware; plan clear access for the truck, staging space, and a stable surface. A forklift or telehandler with adequate lift capacity and long forks is recommended, and a spotter improves safety when moving long bundles. Inspect components against the packing list, photograph any freight damage, and note issues on the bill of lading before the driver departs.

Can I design the project to expand later without starting over?

Yes. Many customers add length in future phases by ordering additional bays, matching panel profiles, and continuing the trim details. If you anticipate lean-tos or extra doors, tell us now; we can align framed openings, slab edges, and drainage so expansions look intentional, weather tight, and code compliant.

How should I plan for utilities and interior build-out inside the shell?

Treat wall panels as cladding, not load-bearing; concentrate loads into structural members and use framed openings for doors, windows, and penetrations. Coordinate electrical, plumbing, and HVAC routes before erecting liners or insulation, and keep clearances around panels for condensation control and service access. Sharing your intended layout early helps us suggest door placements, vent options, and accessory choices that simplify your interior work later.
