It’s safe to say Simpson Steel understands steel truss design – in 1993, owner Gregg Simpson developed and patented a steel truss designed to compete with the wooden structured pole barns. In the past, our industry had lost all of the 50-foot wide and under business to the wood frame pole barns. With the truss, we can offer a far superior structure at the same price or slightly higher price than even the cheap lumber yard packages.
Simply put, steel trusses are the support system of a building. The truss structure is made up of 7 members, with each member designed to carry a tension or compression force. The members are organized into a connected triangle so that overall assembly behaves as a single object. Our truss is made up of a web of triangles joined together to enable the even distribution of weight and the handling of changing tension and compression without bending or shearing.
Our steel truss frame buildings are custom designed to your individual layout. All Simpson Steel buildings are manufactured according to the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA), and we are proud to use only the highest commercial-grade components available.
Steel truss frames can carry significant loads, transferring them to supporting structures such as load-bearing beams, walls, or the ground. Our base building is designed to withstand a 20-pound snow load and 105 mph winds. Additional loading is available by increasing our framework. Our steel truss frame buildings have a maximum width of 50′ and a height of 18′. Designed to carry the same snow loads as several wooden trusses, the steel trusses can be spaced as much as 20′ apart.

The beauty of our steel truss design is that while the design uses the same steel materials that large I-Beams or Rigid structures use, it allows for the use of less steel while still easily withstanding all of the snow loads or wind loads that other buildings can. Less steel means a lower price!
